Graduate / Junior Interior Retail Designer

Location: Northcote Rd, Clapham Junction, London

Salary: £18k

Description:

We have a very exciting opportunity for a keen graduate / junior Interior Retail Designer to join our team on a full time, perm basis. We are looking for someone with experience or interest in creating world class retail environments.  We need this person to be a good all rounder with a flair for creative concept generation supported by good production skills such as sketching, CAD (Vectorworks) and 3D modeling skills (Renderworks).

This person must be excited by exploring new things in the world of commercial interior design in the sectors of retail, food & beverage, transport and hospitality. This person will be inspired by new trends, materials and technologies whilst actively seeking out what’s next in the industry, such as visiting exhibitions or lectures. We are also looking someone who understands the notion of experiential design is interested in crafting excellent customer experiences.

Working as part of the Interiors team, this person must be hungry to learn and develop with close guidance and art direction from the Director of Interiors and other senior members of the team.

TYC is a boutique studio with a close-knit, family feel, based in South London.

Specific skills required for the role:

  • Excellent idea and concept generation
  • Excellent sketching, particularly of a physical spaces
  • Up to date knowledge of trends, technology, materials, finishes, manufacturing methods
  • Ability to use Vectorworks to produce plans and elevations
  • Ability to use Renderworks to 3D model an interior space
  • Excellent skills in Adobe Creative Suite (CS6), specifically Photoshop and InDesign
  • Experience of MS Office package
  • Self starter and efficient at time keeping
  • A desire to learn and be taught
  • Expert Apple Mac user

The types of project deliverables that the junior Interior Retail Designer will work on:

  • Undertaking research to understand the market opportunity, brand positioning and trends
  • Supporting concept generation by creating mood boards, organising material samples, and sketching ideas
  • Supporting design development by creating plans, layouts, elevations and 3D models for technical drawing packs
  • Supporting on site build by conducting regular site visits and conducting snagging activities

Qualifications required:

  • 2:1 or higher Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Product Design,
