TYC visits Leman Locke

This week we visited the beautiful hotel Leman Locke in East London.

Every week we’ll be posting one of our favourite concepts we were lucky enough to visit. This week we had a tour around the renowned Leman Locke in Aldgate East. This spot is a design-led aparthotel with complete Scandi vibes, bringing like-minded creative heads together, under one roof. If you looked up boutique hotel in the dictionary, you’d find Leman Locke. However, it is even more than that – think Airbnb super host from start to finish. The perfect combination for a home away from home style stay!

The hotel is located right in the hustle and bustle of East London, yet once you’ve stepped inside you’ve escaped the busy smoke almost instantly. it is a retreat. A getaway. Somewhere to eat, sleep live. The Locke is a community focused hotel, with a high level of attention to detail. Each room is fully equipped with the perfect toolbox of supplies that you’d need for your perfect stay, whatever length that may be. From the artwork to their bespoke scent, they’ve got it covered.

Contemporary art fills the walls from their current creative in residence; Custhom, whom have provided prints for the entirety of August. The Locke have also paired up with Kinsey Apothecary London to create their signature scent which can be found in all of the 168 suites, this is exclusive to Leman Locke – salted caramel dreams! The collabs don’t end there, when the hotel was first created, they were on a mission to find the perfect coffee table magazine, however they struggled to find something to fit their theme. With collaborations in mind, Locke decided to design their perfect coffee table read. This was named ‘East London at Dawn.’

We’re pretty sure you would’ve seen this as your scroll your Instagram feeds, but we have to mention the iconic pink L shape sofa, situated in every single room. The designers created this iconic piece of furniture as they wanted to break the norm. Most hotel rooms are designed to revolve around the bed – however the designers believed this was not fitting. They made the sofa the main focus of every room, this makes the suites the most perfect haven to relax.

Leman Locke is home of Treves & Hyde’s desirable restaurant, serving up social surroundings on the side of their delicious menu. A great hub for those wishing to satisfy their personal and/or professional lives. Spanned across two floors, and connected by their famous spiral staircase, Trevas & Hyde is also the perfect venue for the ‘What’s on at the Locke’ weekly events.

Locke is all about community & supporting local businesses. Inviting East London to come in and play. It’s a yes from us Leman Locke!
